Ghanaian Actress Beverly Afaglo Baah Dies at 42, Days Before Birthday
Accra, May 24, 2026 — Ghana’s entertainment industry is in mourning following the death of renowned actress and television personality Beverly Afaglo Baah. Her passing was confirmed on Sunday, May 24, by her husband, musician Eugene Kwadwo Boadu Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster, the former leader of the hiplife group Praye.
In an emotional Instagram post, Choirmaster announced the heartbreaking news just four days before what would have been Beverly’s 43rd birthday on May 28.
“My heart is shattered beyond words over the death of my beloved wife Beverly Afaglo!!!” he wrote. “It would have been just like 4 more days to your birthday, but I guess the Lord wanted to celebrate with you, so He called you”.
Born on May 28, 1983, Beverly Afaglo Baah was a familiar face in Ghana’s film and television industry. She studied journalism and public relations at the Ghana Institute of Journalism before building a strong reputation as an actress.
She featured in numerous Ghanaian films and TV productions, including Return of Beyonce (2006), Crime to Christ (2007), Girls Connection (2008), The Gameb(2010), A Northern Affair, Aloe Vera, and Sidechic Gang. Cause of death revealed
Beverly’s manager, Abu Iddris, disclosed that she died on Saturday night, May 24, at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema after a two-year battle with cancer. The cancer began as breast cancer and later spread.
Despite her illness, Beverly continued working and supporting her family. “We shot things for her while she was undergoing treatment. The premieres, the promotions, she was undergoing treatment. She lived while doing her very best until the cancer really overtook her,” Iddris said.
She had travelled to the United States for treatment but chose to return to Ghana to spend her final days with her two daughters.
Tributes pour in
Choirmaster described Beverly as “my strength, my happiness, and the reason my life felt complete”. He pledged to continue the plans and projects they had started together and said her memory would remain with him forever.
Fans, colleagues, and members of Ghana’s entertainment community have flooded social media with condolences, remembering her warmth, talent, and contributions to the industry.
The family has yet to announce funeral arrangements as they mourn privately and support their children.
